What this site is
Boiler Upgrade Schemes explains the Boiler Upgrade Scheme — the grant that takes money off a heat pump in England and Wales — in more detail than the official pages and without a sales pitch attached. It covers who qualifies, how the installer-led voucher works, what the grant is worth in each situation, what a heat pump costs after it, what it costs to run, and how to check an installer before signing.
Every figure on the site comes from a named source — GOV.UK, Ofgem, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, HMRC, the Energy Saving Trust and a small number of others — and carries the date we read it. The sources are listed at the end of each page. Where the honest answer is “it depends” or “probably not worth it”, the site says so.
What this site is not
- Not the government or Ofgem. The scheme is run by Ofgem for DESNZ. We have no role in it and cannot approve, speed up or guarantee any application.
- Not an installer. We do not install, survey, sell or maintain heating systems, and we hold no MCS certification, consumer code membership or trade accreditation. Those registers are for checking installers against, and we link to them for that purpose.
- Not a source of reviews. We publish no testimonials, ratings or case studies of real installations. Worked examples on the site are modelled from official figures and labelled “Illustrative example”.
- Not financial or tax advice. We describe published rules; for your own circumstances, take your own advice.
How enquiries work, and how the site is funded
Under the scheme, only an MCS-certified installer can apply for your grant, so the practical next step for most readers is quotes. If you use the enquiry form, we pass your details to independent heat pump installers covering your postcode; they contact you directly, check your eligibility and quote. Check each one on the MCS register before you sign — only an MCS-certified installer can apply for the grant. You are under no obligation to accept any quote. Installers who receive enquiries may pay the publisher for the introduction. That is the commercial model, and it is why the privacy notice says plainly that enquiries are shared with installers.
Nothing on the site changes depending on which installer receives an enquiry, and no installer has any say in what we publish. We would rather you checked every installer yourself — our MCS checklist shows how.
Who publishes it
Published by SEO-DONS LTD (company no. 16766013), 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ. You can check the company on the Companies House register. We do not take phone calls; the contact form reaches the people who maintain the site.
How the facts are kept current
The scheme changes often — three times in 2026 so far — and grant pages across the web go out of date quickly. This site keeps every dated number in a single data file with its source and the date it was read, so that when a rule changes, every page that uses it changes together. Figures on the site were last checked on 28 September 2026. Statistics follow the monthly DESNZ release; the next is due on 29 October 2026.
If you spot a figure that disagrees with GOV.UK or Ofgem, the official page is right. Tell us through the form and we will correct it.
